I have an utterly maxed out reloading bench. Actually, three of them, more or less. Dillion RL-550B, Rock crusher, Lee stuff, you name it. Every die made for .223 I think (I was testing what was best for competition, money no object) - and of course, everything else I own and more, since I also build ammo for neighbors (no one around here doesn't have a gun). I use "whatever" i'm in the mood for. In some real serious testing, I found nothing wrong with the progressive re accuracy, but sometimes you need to pay more attention to not crashing some shell at some station and never forgetting a step. Or sometimes I'm just making one - test shoot, make another - and it's silly to setup and use a progressive for that.

Hasn't everyone pushed a load? But I often just go for max accuracy instead, and there's not much difference downrange as air scrubs the few extra FPS you can get off pretty quick. As someone said, the speed doesn't matter if you miss...

I will often go for "clean" if I can - the less mess I make in a high grade barrel the better.
The second noisiest gun I have is that short-barrel Carbon 15 (5.56). The first is yes, a .50 BMG, but I don't shoot that very much. Funny that little thing really is a thumper when it comes to noise, but is minute of pie plate at 25 yards...not that great. I was coming back from my range with a buncha guns in the tractor cart one day and a neighbor stopped me and assumed I'd been shooting one of the really big ones, but nope, it was that little guy. Then again, they thought my AR 15 was an AK...they know better now, having taken the CCW course from me and my co-instructor.

I'm lucky to live in a place where the noise doesn't bother anyone, and heck, my range is not even the only one close by. If I want to shoot on my front or back 40 - any time. If I'm going to make a really big boom.. the only way I get issues is if I don't invite the neighbors to come and watch.

While stacking is good - there are other hard assets too. Guns are nice...all tools are nice...land...food...power production. I get called a prepper and looking at it, I'm probably more prepped than those that go by that moniker officially. But it wasn't the motivation when I was a refugee from DC in serious burnout. Relaxed freedom - including from having to work to pay bills - was. It turns out I'm pretty "green" but while I enjoy my furry and also my chlorophyll based friends, the reason is I'm too lazy to be a great farmer. Ditto the solar setup...

Very nice. I believe in tools as well. Solar would be nice, at the moment I just have way too much on my plate. Looking at getting out of the city, though currently on the outskirts, would be nice to go quite a ways out. DC is the absolute arm pit of America. I was there for a while for work and could not wait to get home. No one ever seemed happy...

DC was indeed an armpit when I left, much more now, but I've been in worse places too (LA ;~). It's good to be from there and not still there - it helps understand their particular flavor of insanity (which nevertheless promotes excess cynicism). Now that I'm used to this different place and life in SW VA, I feel homesick about half an hour out from here. I remember being able to smell (burned rubber and antifreeze) and feel (rumble) DC from around 50 miles out when I used to go and visit the parents there.

Nothing like clean air and water, nice view, neighbors you don't have to avoid but would rather hang with. OK, sometimes you avoid them because else you're going to get a spare truckload of fresh organic produce - fine if it's something you want, but there's a limit. Get it while you can!

It's nice living in a place where we really outnumber .gov and they know it...and they live here too so they can't really get too far out of line.
Imagine a place where even the cops are honest and cool...and are actually there to help! It was a significant culture shock, but a nice one.

It is a bummer that it's a ~30 mi round trip to the nearest place to buy, well, beer and stuff. But it's a decent trade, and there's this thing called a truck and a plan, so you don't have to do it that much. One tends to lump all errands so as to avoid spending too much time driving around. One nice thing about living about two ridges into the mountains...you can go to the city anytime, but they seem unable to find you even with a map or GPS...keeps the riff-raff at bay. No worries about a zombie apocalypse here...my neighbors would pick them off on the way in if they even get that far. I might get a call to bring ammo or something(!).
